It was PRs galore today at Benton as your high school cross country squads.
The girls started off with good races from Lydia Hulbert and Kylie Snow. They continue to improve as the year goes on!
On the boys side, the boys brought home more hardware with a 3rd place finish. It was another great race, as in all of our local races the boys have placed top 3 or better!
A big thank you to Webber Township Fire Dept. for helping with our fire drill today! Students also got to look at the trucks and learn about fire safety.

Good afternoon Bluford Schools. Tomorrow on Friday, October 11 there will be an 11:30 dismissal. On Monday, October 14 there is no school in observance of Columbus Day. Have a great night.
A representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will meet with seniors on October 21 to discuss the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). She will also be available to meet with parents during Parent-Teacher Conferences on the evening of October 23, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
Congratulations to our junior high cross country runners! We have 3 state qualifiers on the boys side and 3 on the girls side!
Girls: Emma Hardy, Zayla Withrow, and Hailey Popplewell.
Boys: Carson Korte, Jacoby Stewart, and Hudson Burke.
Both the girls and boys teams placed 3rd overall as well in a very competitive regional! We are so proud of all our runners and as always, it's a great day to be a Trojan!!! Congratulations!!!
Mt Vernon Rotary West donated dictionaries to our third grade students.
There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 14, for Columbus Day. Also, Rend Lake students will not have school on October 14 or October 15.
High school cheerleaders are selling BLANKETS. To order yours please contact any cheerleader or Coach Savannah Creighton at screighton@blufordschools.org. Sale ends October 21st and payment is due at time of order.
First grade made some spooky/sweet monsters for our October bulletin board.
A floor mat was found during morning drop off this morning. If you lost one, it is in the grade school office.
Reminder to our community - Smoking is prohibited on school grounds. This includes at outdoor events such as track, cross country, and baseball/softball games.

Look how big some of our bean seeds have gotten! Some students had tremendous growth over the last three weeks, while others learned about root rot and the effects of too much water.
Today we celebrate our Athletic Director, Mr. Hamerski on his retirement! All of us are thankful for how much you have assisted in building the athletic programs up over the years!
6th grade Science had fun today challenging themselves during an Escape Room! They had to use their knowledge of the rock cycle and deciphering skills to make their way through the puzzles. We even learned what a snote is! If you haven't been to an escape room the signs afterwards are the best part. They are in jest and were not taken seriously
The Webber HS Beta Club is excited to announce the third annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 25th from 5:30-7pm in the high school parking lot!
