The Bluford Board of Education held a Special Reorganizational Meeting on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 5:30PM in the District Office. The following items were discussed/action take:
Approval of the Minutes for the April 21, 2025 Regular Board of Education Meeting;
Approval of Executive Session Minutes from April 21, 2025 to remain confidential;
Approved the Canvassing of the April 2025 Consolidated Election Results and Seating of Board Members (the oath of office was taken by present members Sneed and Scott). Members include Jenny Sneed (incumbent), Doug Shafer (incumbent), Steve Tate (2-year unexpired term), and Josh Scott (new member) Shafer and Tate will take the oath at their next meeting.
Election of Board Officers was held and the following officers were elected: Jenny Sneed (President), Katelyn Lewis (Vice-President), and Steve Tate (Secretary)
FY26 Board Meeting Dates were approved
Appointment of Kim McCormick as School Treasurer
Appointment of Ashley Raney and Kim McCormick as Board Co-Recording Secretaries
Appointment of Board Committee Members:
Curriculum: Marlow, Scott
Finance: Tate, Lewis
Building: Sneed, Scott
Personnel: Marlow, Lewis
P/T Advisory: Tate
Special Education Governing Board: Vacant
The Board of Education acknowledged the letter of resignation submitted by Jessica Case as Board Member of the Bluford Unit School District #318 Board of Education effective April 30, 2025.
Superintendent Cross and Board President acknowledged her service to the Bluford School District and community and wished her well on her future endeavors.
As a result of the vacancy, the Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill the vacant positions. See information below:
The Bluford Unit School District #318 is accepting applications to fill the vacancy resulting from the resignation of board member, Jessica Case.
The individual selected will serve on the Board of Education from the date of appointment until the consolidated election in April 2027.
Bluford Unit School District #318 offers a safe, enriched learning environment that is rich in the human resources that positively affect students' lives. Applicants for the Board vacancy must:
Be a United States citizen
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
Be a registered voter
Not be a child sex offender
Not hold another incompatible public office
Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District
Not be a school trustee
Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment
Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban.
