The Board of Education held its Regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 6pm in the District Office. The following items were discussed and action taken:
1. Approval of the Minutes for the March 20, 2025 Regular Board of Education Meeting; Approval of Executive Session Minutes from March 20, 2025 to remain confidential; Approval of Bills for April 2025; Approval of Financial Reports for March 2025; Approval of Suspensions Imposed by Building Administrators for March 2025; Destruction of Executive Session Verbatim Recordings older than 18 months - that are not germane to litigation, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2.06(c); Authorize the Superintendent and District Bookkeeper to prepare the FY2026 tentative budget; Approve the District to expend funds in order to cover the costs of salaries, materials and supplies for the 2025-2026 school year;
2. The Superintendent's Report included 3rd Quarter Financials and upcoming events. Principal's reports included upcoming events and student highlights. Maintenance report included updates on facilities.
3. The district received 10 FOIA requests from Proton for Vender information, as well as a request from SmartProcure for Staff Information and Data Branch for PO Information. All were responded to in a timely manner.
4. The following items were considered and approved:
Set the Special Board Reorganizational Meeting for April 30, 2025 at 5:30PM in the BUSD District Office.
Approved to post bids for Fuel for FY26
Approved the Athletic Coop Renewal with Wayne City for Boys/Girls Cross Country, Track, and Bowling
Approved the annual resolution of hazardous bus routes
Approved the resolution authorizing the sale of school personal property (2009 Ford Focus)
Approved the lease/purchase of (3) Used 2021 International IC/CE 72 passenger Gasoline school buses from Midwest Transit Equipment from the Transportation Fund.
The Board entered into Executive Session and the following items were approved following executive session:
Accepted the resignation
of
the following employees: Jerry Case (JH Science Teacher), Destiny Massie (GS Teacher), and Hannah Bowers (EOC Aide)
Employed the following: Sherri Lowery (GS Secretary), Cindy McNeil (District Nurse), Garrett McFarlin (GS Teacher), Kenzie Hamlin (GS Teacher), Cyndel McKiness (JH Science Teacher), Matt Hicks (GS Head Baseball Coach), and Tony Fitzpatrick (GS Asst. Baseball Coach)
Approved to post for vacant/new positions (Summer Maintenance Workers and EOC Aide)
