The Bluford Board of Education held its regular March Board meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The following items were discussed and action taken:

​1. Approval of the Consent Agenda, including Minutes for the February 22, 2024 Regular Board of Education Meeting; Executive Session Minutes from February 22, 2024 to remain confidential; Executive Session Minutes from September 2023 - February 2024 and to remain confidential; Bills for March 2024; Financial Reports for February 2024; Suspensions Imposed by Building Administrators for February 2024.

2. Correspondence to the Board included a thank you card from Mrs. Terri Helm.

3. Superintendent, Principals and Maintenance Reports were given. The superintendent's report included information about building and grounds projects and FY25 planning. Also congratulations to Mr. Hamerski for being elected the Midland Trail Conference President for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a testament to his dedication to athletics. Principals reports included student highlights for both the GS and HS, as well as upcoming events, field trips, and awards. Maintenance report also included updates on building and ground projects.

4. Approval to renew IHSA membership for the 2024-2025 school year.

5. Approval of the FMLA request from Marci Sherwin.

6. Approval to waive student fees for the 2024-2025 school year.

7. Approval of the overnight trip request for State FFA Convention and Illinois FFA Leadership Camp.

8. The Board entered into Executive Session and the following items were approved following executive session:

  • Accepted the letter of resignation from the following employees: Dawn Bedar (Jr. High Asst. Girls Basketball Coach) and Tiffany Hammock (EOC Aide)

  • Accepted the letter of retirement from Gary Pierce

  • Voluntary Transfer of Stephanie Palmer to HS SPED Aide for the 2024-2025 school year

  • Employee Wayne Stone as HS English Teacher and Full Time Bus Driver for the 2024-2025 school year

  • Employee Annesa Lowery as Full Time Bus Driver

  • Reemploy building principals Amanda Strohschein and Ryan Robinson

  • Post for vacant positions (Full Time Bus Driver, EOC Aide at BGS, SPED Aide at BGS, Jr. High Asst. Girls Basketball Coach)
