The Bluford Board of Education held its regular November Board meeting on Thursday, November 16, 2023. The following items were discussed and action taken:
1. Approval of the Consent Agenda, including Minutes for the October 19, 2023 Regular Board of Education Meeting; Executive Session Minutes from October 19, 2023 to remain confidential; Bills for November 2023; Financial Reports for October 2023; Suspensions Imposed by Building Administrators for October 2023;
2. Superintendent, Principals and Maintenance Reports included information about student highlights, building projects/maintenance completed, 2023 annual school report card designations/highlights, and upcoming student events.
3. Approval of the FY23 Audit by Kujawa & Batteau, PC.
4. Approval of the Bluford USD #318 Risk Management Plan.
5. Approval of the 2023 Tentative Tax Levy for the Grade School, High School, and Unit.
6. Approved to set the 2023 Tax Levy Hearing for December 19, 2023 at 5:45PM for the GS Levy, 5:50PM HS Levy, and 5:55PM for the Unit Levy in the BUSD District Office.
7. Approved the application to apply for the 2024 Property Tax Relief Grant.
8. Approved district equipment as surplus, as presented, for recycling.
9. Approved AJD Consulting as ERATE consultants for BUSD #318.
10. Approved the first reading of Board Policy Updates, from October 2023 Press Plus Update 113, as presented.
11. Approved the 2024 School Maintenance Project Grant, as presented.
12. The Board entered into Executive Session and the following items were approved following executive session:
- Accepted the letter of resignation from Levi Aydt as custodian effective November 3, 2023.
- Accepted the letter of retirement from Marla Lacey as High School Secretary and Full-Time Bus Driver effective November 30, 2023.
- Approved Volunteer Athletic Coaches for Winter PeeWee Basketball for the 2023-2024 Season, as presented.
- 5th Grade (Co-Ed) - Craig Hester and Alicia Hester
- 3rd Grade Boys - John Keil
- Employed Cheyenne Spurlock as an EOC aide for Bluford Grade School.
- Employed Beth Spangler as High School Secretary.
- Employed Jordan Reyling as Full-Time Custodian.
