The Bluford Board of Education held the FY2024 Budget Hearing and its regular September Board meeting on Thursday, September 21, 2023. The following items were discussed and action taken:
At the budget hearing held at 5:45PM, Superintendent Cross gave an update on the estimated fund balances at the end of FY23 and explained revenue and expenditure totals for the upcoming fiscal year (FY24).
1. Approval of the Consent Agenda, including Minutes for the August 17, 2023 Regular Board of Education Meeting; Executive Session Minutes from March 2023 - August 2023 and to remain confidential; Bills for September 2023; Financial Reports for August 2023; Suspensions Imposed by Building Administrators for August 2023; Board Policy 7:180 Prevention of and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment in accordance with 105 ILCS 5/27-23.7;
2. Superintendent, Principals and Maintenance Reports included information about current enrollments, student highlights, building projects completed, and information about tax installments.
3. The Board was informed of 2 FOIA Requests from Science of Reading Illinois and Janine Asmus. Both were responded to in a timely manner.
4. The Board approved the FY2024 Budget.
5. The Board approved Lease Option Agreement with Illinois Energy Consortium Powered by Future Green for a potential solar project for Bluford Schools.
6. The Board approved the overnight trip to the National FFA Convention on November 1-2, 2023.
7. The Board approved 9 old A/C units as surplus for eminent sale of $25 each, as presented.
8. The Board entered into Executive Session;
9. Following executive session the Board approved the following items:
- Accepted the 2-year, irrevocable letter of retirement from Ms. Lyna Benson effective the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
- Employed Ashley Snow as Grade School Robotics Sponsor.
- Employed Tiffany Hammock as an EOC aide for Bluford Grade School.
- Employed Wayne Stone as HS Assistant Basketball Coach.
