Construction Progress Update

As construction continues to move along, we have been informed that the completion timeline has been moved back.  Certain elements have hindered progress.  The anticipated completion timeline is now set for February 26.  However, weather will play a significant role in remaining on this schedule as asphalt paving has yet to be completed.  Another large factor to keep the project on schedule will be the installation of the gymnasium floor.  In this progression a snowball effect can happen.  For instance if there is a delay in HVAC work, there will be a delay with the installation of the gym floor.  While they may seem to be unconnected, the opposite is actually true, as the permanent heating system must be running in order for the floor to properly acclimate.

It is my stance that I would rather have a high quality finished product than a building which was hastily completed to meet initial timelines.  We are remaining diligent with the quality of craftsmanship from each of the trades.  As we have progressed, all of the trades have been completing high quality work.  In the end, the building will be a very nice facility.

Currently, a great deal of work is being completed.  To list some of the items:

  • Drywall finishing- (classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, office)
  • Installation of tectum in the gymnasium
  • Installation of basketball goals
  • Painting in the gymnasium
  • Duct work
  • Duct insulation
  • Concrete sidewalks
  • Gas lines for HVAC
  • Installation of lighting fixtures
  • HVAC duct testing
  • Gutters are supposed to begin toward the end of the week

If weather cooperates over the next couple of weeks, we are hopeful that site work around the exterior of the building can be completed so the asphalt paving can be completed.
