Mr. Shelby was born and raised in southern Illinois. In high school, Shelby was a part of two team second place state finishes in cross country and earned a second place medal at the state track meet. He graduated from S.I.U.E. with his B.S. in 1997. Mr. Shelby experienced success as an alternative high school teacher and boys basketball coach (Sweet 16 Class AA 1997) at Alton High School in Alton, IL. Coach Shelby would later coach the Prairie Central High School girls basketball team to six straight regional championships reaching the sectional championships in those years (99-05). In 2005, he would earn his Type 75 Educational Leadership Master's Degree from E.I.U. As an administrator in Marion Unit #2, Marion, IL and Herrin Unit #4, Herrin, IL, Mr. Shelby supervised the construction of Adams School as principal, won the 2011 Disney Planet Challenge at Creal Springs School as principal, and developed the Beilei English Speaking School in Chengdu, China as principal of Herrin Elementary School. Most recently, Mr. Shelby worked as an administrator in Unit #5, Normal, IL at Oakdale School implementing Social Emotional Learning and coaching 16u Twin City SLAM AAU Boys Basketball team. Mr. Shelby and his wife Karen (Special Education Teacher) enjoy attending their daughter Brooke's performances in chorus and theatre while rooting on their son Connor in football and basketball.
