Please remember to follow IDPH guidelines when in attendance at any extracurricular activities. If you are unable to maintain a distance of 6 feet from those not in your household when you are outside, please wear a face mask. This reminder comes now because we were notified of a spectator from another school who has tested positive for Covid-19. It is in the best interest of our student athletes, for all spectators to follow these guidelines so that it does not jeopardize our ability to continue playing. As always, if you are not feeling well or develop symptoms, please stay home and away from others.

Regular school dismissal will be 3:10 pm. Car rider pick up will be similar to last year in that you will enter from Chestnut Street (around the curve). One difference is that we are going to have two lanes of traffic. Those picking up students in grades K-2 will be the inside lane which will be closest to the school. K-2 students will be coming out the doors on the west end of the building, so you will stop at the sidewalk by the corner of the building. Those picking up students in grades 3-5 will use the outside lane. Students in grade 3-5 will be walked out the front entrance by the elementary gym that we have used in the past. These lanes of traffic will will continue down the front of the building. There will be a staff member outside directing traffic. If you have a child in grades 6-8, please park in the lot closest to the grade school office and those students will make their way out to the car. Those picking up high school students should park in the angled parking in front of the high school entrance. If you have multiple grade levels to pick up, get in the line of the youngest child and please tell a staff member so they can direct you where to go next. Please be patient with the process as we adjust and work keep the kids safe through the dismissal process. #herewego

Tomorrow is the big day! Please remember student arrival is 7:50 am. If you are dropping off students in grades K-4, let them out at the front entrance at the west end of the building by the elementary gymnasium. High school students should be let out at the main entrance of the high school. We can't wait to see you all! #herewego

As we are about to begin a new school year, we have no idea what the future may hold. We have very strategic plans in place to limit they amount of contact any child will have with another. Parents, rest assured as your children would most likely be exposed to more people in a grocery than throughout the day at school. All of this is to help ensure proper social distancing. As we begin Monday, we hope our plan will allow our students to attend in person because feel that is vitally important for children. However, if at some point we are forced to shift to remote learning, we are much better prepared than last time. At the opening staff meeting, I shared a new moto with the staff for the year, #herewego. We don't know what the future holds but, #herewego. We received the following information from ISBE: I am passing this along for any families who may want to take advantage. With our CEP program (free breakfast/lunch) all families who live in the Bluford school district would be eligible for this. Pandemic EBT Application Available The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) launched the Pandemic EBT application for families on May 1 at https://abe.illinois.gov/abe/access/. P-EBT is a new special benefit that can help families buy food for their school age children who would normally receive National School Lunch Program (NSLP) free or reduced-priced meals when schools are in session. All families with school age children who attend schools approved for Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) are eligible for the benefits as they receive NSLP meals at no charge. Families that currently receive SNAP benefits do not need to apply for P-EBT benefits. These additional P-EBT benefits will be loaded into Illinois LINK EBT accounts along with regular SNAP benefits. Families who do not currently receive SNAP benefits but do have children who receive NSLP free or reduced-priced meals will need to apply directly with IDHS. The fastest way for families to receive benefits is to complete the application for P-EBT available online (Click “Apply for Benefits” at the link.) A paper application in English and Spanish is also available and can be submitted by email to DHS.FCS.PEBT@illinois.gov. IDHS created a flyer to help families with the application process. We are asking NSLP sponsors to share this flyer with their families.
