Bluford/Webber school community:

The beginning of school is upon us, so I wanted to provide some information with regard to the status of the high school building and what we have planned for transportation and occupancy procedures.

I will begin with the good news.  We are in the building.  The interior is substantially complete and we have the occupancy permit from the Regional Office of Education. There are some items which remain on the punch list, but at this point, the contractors will have to work around our schedule to complete their work.  So, on Friday students will attend the new Webber High School!

The parking lot remains as an issue.  After many delays, paving began on Monday, August 12.  Unfortunately, that morning we received 3 inches of rain, followed by another inch the next morning.  That has postponed paving until early next week.

With that, we will continue the transportation procedures that were in place last year.  Buses will load and unload on the south side of the school. Car riders will drop and and pick up at the same door as last year (northwest).  High school students will park in the same north lot as last year and enter through the main grade school entry.

We will host our Back to School night on Thursday, August 15, from 5:30 - 6:30.  Please join us.  Also, we will be hosting an informal open house for the community to see the building on Saturday, August 17, from 1:00 - 3:00.

As of now a formal dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, at 9:30 a.m.  It is our hope and intention that the parking lot is completed prior to that time.
