Welcome to my website! My name is Jonna Gieselman (you may call me Ms. G.) and this is my fourth year of teaching Kindergarten at Bluford Grade School. I am very excited to be a part of such a wonderful school. I have a great group of students and I look forward to this school year. I try to make learning as fun and memorable as possible. Each and every day in Kindergarten is a learning experience for me and my students. Teaching is not my job; it's my hobby. A person once told me, "When you find what you really want to do, you don't have to work anymore." That is how I feel about my time with my kindergarteners.
I live in Mt.Vernon, IL where I was born and raised. I have a sister named Kadie. She lives in Missouri with her husband, Blake. I have 3 dogs...Sam (Miniature Dachshund), Tucker (Miniature Yorkie), and Murphy (Miniature Dachshund). I also have a grey and white cat named Moses.
I completed my student teaching in 2nd grade at the Primary Center in Mt. Vernon. I graduated in December 2007 from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I received my Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees from Rend Lake College. While attending Rend Lake College, I participated in the Americorps Program. This program allowed me to gain over 1,800 hours at Summersville Grade School serving as a mentor/tutor to children in grades Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd.
In my free time I enjoy shopping, cooking, spending time with my family and friends, babysitting, collecting children's books, reading, and working on my webpage. If at any time you need to contact me, you may reach me at school or by email at jgieselman@blufordschools.org. Let's have a great year!
