In January, we spent some time learning about polar bears and penguins. We made Edible Penguins, Edible Polar Bears, drank hot chocolate and graphed to see who liked it and who didn't, made a polar bear and penguin fact book, made penguin art using potatoes and paint, and even got to see what our skin would feel like in the cold winter air if we had blubber like penguins do. We put one hand in a blubber glove and one hand on top of ice. We found out that with the blubber glove, our hand could not feel the cold ice as much as the hand without blubber glove. We were able to understand how blubber helps keep penguins warm. We also made macaroni penguins and painted penguins using potatoes! Take a look at our pictures!
