Ms. Gieselman’s Behavior Plan

Class Rules

We raise our hands to speak.

We sit quietly in our seat.

We use voices quiet and sweet.

We keep our places tidy and neat.

We use our manners every day.

We never use our hands or feet to harm in any way.

We are helpful, friendly and fair.

We take turns and willingly share.

I feel that it is very important for all children to learn that their behavior is followed by consequences. Inappropriate behavior results in the loss of opportunities to participate. Each student will start the day out with their “Manners Monster” next to the green pocket. This indicates the student is “ready to learn.” When a child breaks a rule, he/she will have to move his/her "Manners Monster” to another color coded pocket and face consequences for their misbehavior. Any student that does not follow the classroom rules will face the following consequences for their behavior:

First Warning: Verbal Warning

Second Warning: “Manners Monster” will be moved to the yellow pocket and the student loses 5 minutes of recess.

Third Warning: “Manners Monster” will be moved to the red pocket and the student loses 10 minutes of recess. A note/phone call will also go home.

Fourth Warning: Student will be asked to take his/her “Manners Monster” to Mr. Porter’s office and will lose their entire recess. Parents will be called.

I believe in positive reinforcement! Reinforcing positive behavior builds the foundation for making appropriate behavior choices. Anytime a child is recognized for demonstrating exceptionally good behavior, he/she will be rewarded with a verbal praise,  a piece of candy from “Max the Manners Monster” or the “Hello Kitty Gumball Machine,” a pencil, an eraser, or a sticker.  Good daily behavior will be rewarded at the end of the day with a sticker. At the end of the week, students who kept their “Manners Monster” on green the entire week or didn’t move their “Manners Monster” to yellow any more than 2 times will receive a trip to the treasure box.  Any student that has to move their “Manners Monster” to red or take it to the office any time during the week will not be allowed to pick from the treasure box.

Each day, your child’s behavior at school will be given to you on the Weekly Behavior Report. If a “Manners Monster” was moved, the rule that was broken will be listed as well as the consequence. You are to initial this behavior sheet each night. Constant communication between us will only help your child succeed and do well in school.

There are 5 rules in Ms. Gieselman's Classroom. They are as follows:

* Raise your hand when you want to speak.

* Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

* Remember the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

* Be respectful of teachers and classmates.

* No yelling or running in the classroom.

* Worry about yourself! No tattling!
